Artist Statement

We are the sum of those who came before us, and our lives echo in the generations that follow. My art is a personal journey, exploring generational trauma and self-discovery within my matriarchal line. My grandmother was diagnosed with schizophrenia and deteriorated rapidly, leaving my mother with little opportunity to truly know her. This absence and its impact on my mother—and subsequently on my own life—became a source of inspiration for my work. As I explore the ways trauma and resilience that can be inherited, my art serves as a reflection on the pain and joy passed down from mothers to daughters. Each piece I create is a deliberate attempt to reveal the unnoticed pieces of our mothers within us. Through intentional choices and a variety of mediums, I offer a visual narrative that intimately intertwines with the stories of my foremothers.
